Why are there so many flies in my house all of a sudden?

A sudden increase almost always means flies have found a breeding source indoors, such as a forgotten piece of food, a dead rodent in a wall or crawl space, standing water in a drain, or an unsealed entry point. Removing the source is the only way to stop the cycle.
